Our Cork Leather Styles are designed in Paris and handmade in a small workshop in Portugal, run by the same family for the past two generations. Every 7 to 9 years in the Portuguese forests, the Cork can be harvested. The envelopes (old bark) are carefully detached from the trees and transported to the nearby workshop. The Cork is then cut, polished to obtain a supple and soft finish and dyed with natural pigments. With attention to detail and exquisite craftsmanship, the bags are then assembled with care and precision.
Cork Leather is waterproof, stain resistant, lightweight (3x lighter than animal leather!) and easy to maintain. This eco-friendly material is considered sustainable because only the bark of the tree is detached to harvest the cork. The Cork Oak Tree is not cut down.
To clean: Gently wipe with a clean, damp cloth. Mild soap can be added to the cloth as needed.
