Our Cork Leather Styles are designed in Paris and handmade in a small workshop in Portugal, run by the same family for the past two generations. With attention to detail and exquisite craftsmanship, the cork leather bags are assembled with care and precision.

Every 7 to 9 years in the Portuguese forests, the cork can be harvested. The envelopes (old bark) are carefully detached from the trees and transported to the nearby cork workshop.
After the cork is transported, it is then cut. The cork is then polished to obtain a supple, soft and light leather finish that is even stronger than animal leather) and then the cork leather is dyed with natural pigments.
Once the cork is ready, it is then transported to the workshops that will create the cork leather bags. The cork leather is then cut and sewn by hand. The lining is sewn in place and the brass clasps are attached.
This eco-friendly material is considered sustainable because only the bark of the tree is detached to harvest the cork. The cork oak tree is not cut down.
Cork Leather is waterproof, stain resistant, lightweight (3x lighter than animal leather!) and so easy to maintain.
Because of its natural qualities, you will likely not have to clean your bag very often. If you do, gently wipe with a clean, damp cloth. Mild soap can be added to the cloth as needed.
